Duncan, Irene Emma – age 78 years of New Ross. This “tough little woman” lost her long battle with illnesses on January 15, 2014 at the South Shore Regional Hospital with family by her side. Born in Chester on May 29, 1935; she was the daughter of the late Side Sode and the late Margaret Armstrong. She was predeceased by her husband Matthew “Dunc”; sister Galdys; niece Rhonda; several half sisters, brothers and son in law Ronnie DeWinter. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughters Sandra (Carl) Daurie of Ellershouse, Susan (Andrew Ernst) of Chester, Brenda of New Ross and Patricia DeWinter (friend, Terry Feoner) of East Dalhousie; sons Myles of New Ross, Toby (Andrea) of New Russell and Tony (Carla) of East Dalhousie; brother Austin “Toby” (Lois) Sode of New Brunswick; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; also by many nieces and nephews. Irene was an avid reader and enjoyed the weekly lexicons. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. “Thank you to the palliative care doctors and staff of SSRH and in particular to the Peds staff for your TLC to our mom” Abiding by her wishes, Irene has been cremated and a private graveside service for the family and friends will be held at the Christ Anglican Church Cemetery on Tuesday, January 21, 2013 at 2pm with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
