Obituary of Joan Thompson Pemberton

Pemberton, Joan Thompson – age 88 years of New Minas, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2013. Born in Brechin, Scotland on June 17, 1925; she was the daughter of the late James and Ann (Walker) Easton. Joan was a member of the New Minas Baptist Church, 50 Plus Club and loved going to Tim Horton’s in New Minas. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Left with many happy and loving memories are her sons James (Diane), Victor (Marie) and Alex, all of Ontario; daughters Betty Durling (Eric) of Berwick, Helen Sheffield of New Minas, Margaret Durling (Dwight) of Prospect Mountain and Mary Ann Sim (Don) of Gaspereau Mountain; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Charles; brothers James and Alexander; sisters Margaret, Elizabeth and Helen; and grandson Glen. In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.O.N. or the charity of your choice.
