Obituary of Patricia Marie Turner

Turner, Patricia Marie "Pat" (Ferreira) - age 79 years of Halifax; passed away at the Abbie Lane division of the QEII hospital on December 17, 2013. Born in New Amsterdam, British Guiana in 1934, Pat was educated in Catholic convents in New Amsterdam and Georgetown, British Guiana and Westgate on Sea, England. After rising through the ranks of Barclays Bank D.C.O in the West Indies she chose the glamorous and exciting career of Air Hostess with British West Indian Airways, and eventually became Bahamas Airways Senior Stewardess in Freeport Bahamas. She was Assistant Manager of Chase Manhattan Bank in Exuma Bahamas and then worked with International Bank in the Cayman Islands. Coming to Canada in 1976 she chose to become a homemaker and mother to her son Christopher. Predeceased by her younger brother Brian. She will be sadly missed by her son Christopher and husband Alan. She will be remembered for her outgoing, friendly personality (especially by her tole painting "buddies") and constant laughter; also for her contributions to Kermesse charity bridge, volunteering at the IWK, and work at catering at British Isles Club functions. Special thanks to the staff of 9th floor Abbie Lane who gave her such considerate care for 3 months. In keeping with Pat's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
