Alice Frances Doucette 1913-2013 Doucette, Alice Frances (Kinney) - age 100 years, passed away peacefully at the Digby General Hospital on December 17, 2013 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 15, 1913; she was the daughter of William and Hattie Kinney of Ashmore, Digby Co. NS. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter (Dick) Doucette, a son in infancy, her sister, Margaret White and brother Willard Kinney; also predeceased by son in-laws Dick (Nelson) Melanson, Hugh Brittain, David Trimper and Murray Burgoyne. Alice was the devoted mother of 7 children, Eleanor Melanson of Brighton, Linda (Bernal) Waterman of Digby, Gary (MaryAnn) Doucette of Ashmore, Mary (John) Fraser of Digby, Viola Trimper of Digby, Barbara (Reg) Melanson of Smiths Cove, and Willard (Sharon) Doucette of North Range. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. At an early age, she attended Teachers’ College in Truro and in later years worked as a substitute teacher in Digby County schools. Alice and her family have appreciated the compassionate care provided by Dr. Lafkovici, Digby Clare Home Support, VON, and private caregivers who made it possible for her to remain in her home for so long. Also thank you to Tideview Terrace caregivers for her recent care. A funeral service will be held at the Ashmore Bethel Baptist Church on December 20, 2013 at 3:00pm with Rev. Fred Bigelow officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. A private graveside service will be held at Madonna Cemetery in Marshalltown. Donations in memory of Alice may be made to the VON (Digby), Digby Clare Home Support, Canadian Red Cross or Madonna Cemetery fund.
