Obituary of John Frasier Murphy

Murphy, John Frasier, (Jack) – age 73, Newport, passed away suddenly at home, after a short illness. Born in Windsor, Hants Co., March 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Frederick Francis Murphy and Kathleen Henry (Smiley) Murphy. Jack was a carpenter all of his adult life, having worked in many areas of N.S. and B.C. He loved music, playing his fiddle at jams, house parties, fiddle shows and concerts. He won first place in a fiddle contest in Victoria, B.C. in 1975; in his younger years he was the leader of his own band, “The Hants County Rhythm Boys” who played on the local radio station CFAB Windsor. He is survived by his wife Leanna; children, Bonnie (Brian) Wilcox, Carter (Valerie) Murphy, Alan (Tammy) Whitehead, Brian (Marlene) Murphy, Kellie Whynot; special son in law Patrick Whynot; brother James (Rose), special grandchildren, Gavin Whynot, Tyler Whynot, Tavia Whynot, Alyssa Whitehead (Jeff), William Whitehead, MacKenzie Whitehead, Cassandra Whitehead, Tyson Murphy; great-grandson Ethan Whitehead. Jack is also survived by two special people, his loving mother in law Annie Brown and friend and helper Justin Stephens who was so much a part of his life. Jack was predeceased by his parents and sister Patricia Levick. In keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2013 at 2PM at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel (568 Main St) with Rev. Alex Mosher officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to Four Seasons Community Orcestra c/o Roger Taylor, P.O.
