Obituary of Franklyn Roosevelt Woodworth

Woodworth, Franklyn Roosevelt - age 74 years, of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on November 15, 2013 at the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Berwick on April 15, 1939; he was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Hubbard) Woodworth.
Frank graduated from Central Kings Rural High School, attending Acadia University receiving his B.A and B.Ed, returning to teach at Central Kings for 30 years. He was very active with coaching curling, organizing and running the Frank Woodworth Memorial Curling Bonspiel. He also managed the Central Kings High School hockey teams for several years. Frank was very active in the community of Berwick and was a lifetime member of the Berwick and District Lions Club. One of his great passions was organizing the blood donor clinics. Earlier this year, he received one of the highest awards in the Lions Club, "The Melvin Jones Award". Frank was also an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Berwick.
Survived by his loving wife Carol Mooy; daughters Jacki Woodworth (Kevin Smith) of Doha, Qatar; Nancy Gauthier (Bob) of Fort McMurray, AB, son Frank (Tina) Woodworth of Coldbrook; their mother Gloria Troke; stepdaughter Ingrid Mooy of Berwick; stepson Neil (Amanda) Mooy of Upper Tantallon; grandchildren Nikolas, Mitchell, Haley, Keegan, Christina, Grace, Genevieve and Gabriella, and sister Valerie Woodworth of Maine. Predeceased by brother in law Lewis Woodworth.
The family greatly appreciated all those who visited, sent cards and helped to make Frank's last year more pleasant. Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors of Hemotology (8-A, V.G) in Halifax, the nurses and staff of the Day Surgery Unit and Blood Collections of AVRH in Kentville and a very special thank you to Dr. Robin Bustin, Bernice Haayer; and the staff of Berwick Family Practice.
In keeping with Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 7-9pm at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 2pm from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Berwick (122 Mill St) with Fr. Craig Cameron officiating. Reception to follow at the Berwick and District Lions Hall.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donation's in memory of Frank may be made directly to the Berwick Lions Club for distribution through their charitable works.
