Cornect, Donald Joseph, 81, of Coldbrook, Kings Co. passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, January 26, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Born in Cape St. George, NL, he was a son of the late Eugene and Germaine (La Page) Cornect. During his time with the Royal Canadian Navy, he served on the "The Magnificent, The Bonaventure & The Saguenay" in retirement he resided for many years in Dartmouth. He then moved to the Annapolis Valley where he was employed on the survey crew with the Department of Highways. He was a strong family man. Donald was an avid golfer & curler; had a great love for nature & the outdoors & loved to garden. He was also a very gifted harmonica player. He is survived by his wife the former, Sheila Lonar; daughters, Judy Metcalf, Cranbrook, B.C.; Sherry (Alfie) Comeau, Kentville; Nancy (John) Mac Eachern, Berwick; sons, Donald (Maria) Moncton, N.B.; Blair (Lisa), Berwick; grandchildren, Tara, Kathleen, Sacha, Nancy, Tony, Samantha, Matthew, Jonathan, Janelle, Krista, Vanessa, Nicole, Colin, Gregory, Britney and 5 great grandchildren; sisters; Riza Brownridge, Mission, B.C.; Marina (Emmanuel) Simon, Cape St. George; Claudette Cornect, Cape St. George; brothers, Maurice (Dorothy), Yarmouth; Roderick (Madeline), Cape St. George; Robert (Anne) Cape St. George; Leonard (Eileen), Cape St. George. He will be sadly missed by his loving family. Donald was predeceased by sisters, Maisie and Hilda; brothers, Gordon, Algernon and Eugene Jr. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. There will no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30th from St. Anthony??s Roman Catholic Church, Berwick. Father Larry Pitcher will officiate.
