Carey, Randall Bradford "Randy", 43 of Grand Pre, Kings Co. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 in the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of Lemert and Donna (Rathbone) Carey. Randy received his education at L.E. Shaw School in Avonport, Horton District High School, Greenwich and Architectural Drafting at Middleton Regional Vocational School, where he won the Governor General's Medal. Randy was a supervisor with Stirling Fruit Farms (2000) Ltd. and he was a co-owner of Evangeline Inn & Motel with his loving wife, Sheila, his best friend and soul mate. He had a great interest in scouting and was involved for many years. He was a member of the Cub, Scout & Venturer movement, being a leader in all three groups. Randy attended the Canadian Scout Jamboree CJ 81 in Kanaskis, Alberta ; 1985 in Guelph, Ont.; Alert Scout Jamborees in Musquodoboit and Spring Camporees in Kings Co. Randy was presented with the Gold Chain in Scouting. He loved nature, the outdoors and camping. He loved listening to music and his greatest enjoyment was his family and many friends. He was Randy the handyman. He loved and was a true ambassador for the Annapolis Valley , his home! Randy is survived by his parents, his wife the former, Sheila Stirling; a sister, Michelle (Jim Wile) of Windsor; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a very special uncle to his many nieces & nephews: Victoria Carey, Christine and Michelle Stirling; Jennie, Alex & John Herbin; Kourtney & Kaleigh Stirling; Sarah, Anna, Jaclyn, Allison & Madeline Kennie. He was very fond of the family cat, Ginger. He was predeceased by a brother, Carson.Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Coldbrook. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Avonport United Baptist Church, Avonport. Reception to follow in the church hall. Rev. Gail Whalen - Dunn will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Stirling Family Cemetery, Wallbrook.Family flowers only by request.
