Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dee, Marion Eleanor ???Marnie?? ??? 80, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully at home, July 12, 2011. Born in Fort William, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Harvey & Agnes (Buchanan) Gellatly. She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Carol Dee (Larry Archibald) of Lockhartville; brother: Bruce of Victoria, B.C.; brother in law: Charles (Mary) of Toronto, Ontario; nieces & nephews will also miss their kind hearted Aunt. Other than her parents, Marion was predeceased by her loving husband of 51years, Gordon. Over the past years, Marnie and her brother shared many fond memories with the family of growing up in the Lakehead, Ont. After graduating from McMaster University, Marnie pursued teaching and my parents lived in Toronto until 1983, when they discovered the Annapolis Valley & moved to Hantsport to be on the water again. Mom appreciated the simpler things in life, reading, creating needlework, gardening & caring for her pets, the Bernese Mountain Dogs & Cats. She also enjoyed exploring the countryside discovering the talented artisans of Nova Scotia. She was a gracious hostess as family and her friends were special to her. Everyone was welcome to her home. Mom??s final days at home were enhanced with the support and compassion from the following people: Dr. Iona Wile, nurse practitioner, Dawn Lowe; Kings County VON team; along with Phyllis, Karen & kindness from others whom were quick to offer assistance. Mom??s friend of 50 plus years, Dorothy, flew down from Ontario to help out in this difficult time. She will always be remembered for her words of wisdom & guidance. By the family??s request, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Marion??s life will be held at a later date. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook. Donations in memory of Marion may be made to the VON, the Nova Scotia Natures Trust or to the charity of one??s choice. Online condolences may be made through www.annapolisvalleyfuneralhome.com ???My heart is filled with so much gratitude for the outpouring of help from all of you?? Thank you, Carol
