Gormley, Daniel Roderick ???Danny??, MWO Retired CD Centreville, Kings Co. It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Danny Gormley announce his passing on May 19, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Qu?bec city, he was the son of Marguerite (Murphy) and the late Carl Gormley. Danny enjoyed a 27 year career serving his country as a radio operator in the Canadian Forces. Upon his retirement, Danny didn??t want to take off the uniform, so he put on the Canadian Tire Auto parts uniform and worked at the Parts desk in Kanata, ON and New Minus, NS. Always up for a challenge he joined Commissionaires NS and enjoyed working at Acadia University and his two favorite work sites, NSCC Kingstec and the Experimental Farm in Kentville NS. When not working, Danny could be found tending to his gardens or serving something up from the kitchen ??? his favorite past time. Danny was predeceased by his first wife Ruth Dolan. He is survived by the love of his life and wife Suzanne Trudeau; daughter Sharon of Ontario, son Carl of Halifax; brother Bruce (Gladys) Clementsport; sisters Teresa (Darald) Lewis, South Williamston; Jennifer (Terry) Power, Bridgetown; grandsons Damon, Jimmy, Tye and Colton and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and no visitation at family??s request. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27 in the Chapel of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Coldbrook. Rev Marc Potvin officiating. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. The family will meet friends at the Centreville Community Hall following the committal. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny??s memory may be made to the VON, Annapolis Valley Branch, The Valley Hospice Foundation or a charity of one??s choice. A grateful thank you to Drs. Mary Joseph and Julia Merryweather, VON nursing staff, Paulette Gash, Palliative Care, the wonderful nurses and staff at VRH and Amanda and Helen, Zellers pharmacists, who were always available and ready to assist him.
