Price, (Morrison) Mary Florence McKay, age 93 died peacefully in Blomidon Court, Shannex in Greenwich on May 20th, 2013. Born in Halifax, November 9th, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John & Ruby (Archibald) Morrison. Her formative years were lived in northern New Brunswick. She developed long lasting friendships from this time and had many wonderful memories of summer camps, swimming and skiing. She cherished her time with her beloved grandmother Alexina Archibald who lived with her family during her youth. She graduated from Acadia (BSc. 1941) and McGill University (MSc. 1942) and was employed as a chemist at Mercks, Montreal. As a nutrition researcher she served on the team that fortified bread with vitamins and minerals in the early 1940??s. Following her marriage on December 22nd 1945 to Neil Price, she worked as a dietician and taught school in New Brunswick, Ontario and Nova Scotia, she finished her teaching career at Central Kings in Cambridge. Mary will be remembered for her unfailing courtesy and kindness. ???Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.?? She was an energetic, intelligent and dedicated mom and grandmother who never stopped giving. She was an unfailing advocate for anyone in need. She will be remembered for her warmth and ready smile. The only time you might see another side of Mary was at the bridge table. There she was a force to be reckoned with! Mary served as President of the United Baptist Women??s Missionary Union, member of the Executive of the Baptist Women??s World Alliance, President of the Canadian Federation of University Women, President of the Nova Scotia Home Economics Association, when she served as a delegate to Malawi and President of the Social and Benevolent Society of Wolfville Baptist Church. She is survived by Neil, her loving husband of 67 years and their daughters and families, Carolyn (Fritz), Wolfville; Heather (Peter), Wolfville; Nancy (Paul), Port Williams; grandchildren, Kurt, Erica, Brittany, Eliot, Scott, Angus, Noel and Gabriel and several nieces and nephews, Ruth , Stuart and William Morrison. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl and Jackie Morrison and parents, Ruby (Archibald) and John Morrison. The family extends thanks and appreciation to the staff at Wolfville Nursing Home and Blomidon Court Shannex for their loving care. Charitable donations may ne made to Wolfville Baptist Church, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Coldbrook. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 2:30 p.m., May 23rd in Wolfville Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Barry Morrison will officiate. Reception in the church vestry following the service.
