Rogers, E. L.???Dick??, 83 of Canaan Mtn. Rd. Kentville, Kings Co. passed away Thursday, Jan.31, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Robert & Vera (Barkhouse) Rogers. During Dick??s working career he was employed by E.J. & L.D. Carey Ltd. Avonport; McCurdy Enterprises, Wolfville & Cornwallis Supplies, New Minas. He was a member of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department obtaining rank of Deputy Chief. Dick loved to fish, hunt & do woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Mitchell); sons, Richard ???Dickie?? (Nancy), North Carolina; Steven (Paula), London, ON; daughters, Denise (John) Ennis, Wolfville; Cheryl (Shawn) Corkum, Kentville; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rogers, Kentville; grandchildren, Silas, Amy, Laura, Sarah, Bethany, Chloe, Evan, Mark & Michael; great grandson, Logan; special little nephew, DeKarie Queensborough; special niece, Beverley Cavanagh-Pick; sister, Vera (Bill) Thomson, Port Williams; brothers-in-law, Dutch Cavanagh & Bill Mitchell; several nieces & nephews. Dick was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Benita Carey; son, Kevin; grand daughter, Tara; sister, Joyce Cavanagh; Edna Rogers; Ethel Cavanagh & Shirley Pardy. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Coldbrook. Private family grave side service will be held at a later date in the Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre. A reception for family & friends to celebrate Dick??s life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 05 in the Kings Presbyterian Church, New Minas, In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or 3rd Horton Baptist Church, Canaan.
