Thomas, David Wilburn age 91 years of Middleton, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Wing of the Soldiers Memorial Hospital on October 20, 2013. Born in Aylesford on April 23, 1922; he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Illsley) Thomas. For over 30 years David was a proud truck driver for T.P. Calkin in Kentville, and also served as an infantry soldier in WWII. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, playing crib but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family. David was a huge sports fan and cheered on his Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. Left with fond and loving memories are his son D. Roger (Elizabeth) Thomas of North Kingston; grandchildren Meghaen Markey-Thomas (Mark Greene) and Justin (Dominique) Markey-Thomas; great grandchildren Brandon and Gavin Thomas-Greene and Gatsby Markey-Thomas; sisters in law Kelsey Herman (Warren), Pauline and Yvonne Conrad all of South Berwick; also by numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years Faye; brothers Richard, Cyril and Donald in infancy; sisters Marguerite, Bertha, Helen and Audrey; brothers in law Carmen, Delbert, Marshall, Lester, Bill, Frederick and Alvin; sisters in law Kathleen, Evelyn and Shirley. In keeping with Davids wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11am from the Aylesford Union Cemetery with Deacon Don Boudreau officiating.
