Obituary of Luella Ann Weir

Luella Ann (MacLellan) Weir 1927-2013 Born in Alder Point Cape Breton, Luella was the daughter of the late Alexander MacLellan and Ellen Jane MacDonald. She was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by sisters Theresa Burton, Kathleen (Babe) MacLean, Lillian King, Frances Jardine and Bernetta MacLellan, brothers Nathaniel and Alexander MacLellan. She was also predeceased by husband Wallace Norman Weir Sr. Luella came to Digby as a young girl and met the love of her life "Nippy" as she so affectionately call our father. She worked many years as a home support worker in the Digby and surrounding area and loved her job. Luella loved her family most of all and everyone was always welcome at the family home in Smiths Cove. The house was always robust with noise, children and grandchildren were always about. Everyone was made to feel welcome. Luella is survived by Sons Bruce of Calgary Alberta, Alexander (Sandy) of Smiths Cove, Peter of Digby, Shaun of Marshalltown, Wally of Smiths Cove and daughters Aloma of North Range, Joanne of Chester Basin, Karen of Weymouth and Luella of Marshalltown; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to such an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. A woman that was so strong, full of life and love. We always called her a queen and that she was. She remains in our hearts forever and will be dearly missed. A private grave side service will be held on Monday Aug 19, 2013 for immediate family members.
