Obituary of Margaret Richardson Saulnier
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Saulnier, Margaret (Margie) Richardson â Age 78, Falmouth, passed away peacefully on 17 July 2013 in Hants Community Hospital. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom was born on 23 May 1935 in Springhill, Nova Scotia. She was the youngest of three daughters of the late David Allbon and Mary Esther Connors. As a young girl she lived in Parrsboro, before moving to Windsor with her family in 1945. As a teenager mom was an excellent swimmer and champion diver. She attended the Windsor Academy, and the Kay Anslow Business College. After completing her schooling she began her career as a secretary working for the provincial Department of Education in Halifax, before returning to Windsor to work for two different Head Masters at Kings College. Following her first marriage to Garth Darrel Pulsifer on 13 July 1957, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for both Garth Pulsifer Flowers Limited in Windsor until 1995, and for David Allbon and Company Printers and Publishers until 1997, when she retired after 40 years service. Mom was a caring and supportive mother who lived for her children and delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to take drives and travel, and always enjoyed a good joke. Five years after the death of her first husband in 1995, Mom married Laurie Saulnier of Martock on 28 October 2000. Over the next 11 years she and Laurie shared many laughs and good times. They traveled throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and to Mexico on several occasions. In the year before her death, Mom often said how fortunate she had been to have been married to two good men. The first gave her four wonderful children, and the second gave her the sun, moon, and stars. She was dearly loved and will always be remembered by her children from her first marriage, sons Mark (Elizabeth), Antigonish; and Greg (Belinda) Pulsifer, Grafton; and daughters, Shelley (Robert) Shaw, Martock; and Esther (Greg) Baxter, Sackville; grandchildren, Duncan and Jillian Pulsifer; Devon, Camille (CJ), Kyley Schofield; Bernie, Ryan, Brittany, and Dexter Pulsifer; Jessica and Alex Baxter; and four great grandchildren, Madisen, Michael, Thomas and Nathan. She will also be remembered by Patrick Watkins, Ivan (Phyllis) Pulsifer, Thelma Gillis, nieces and nephews; and Laurieâs family, especially Pam Bowlby and Evelyn (George) Tucker. Besides her parents, Margie was predeceased by sisters, Mary Ann Watkins, and Frances Isabella in infancy, her first husband Garth Pulsifer, and her second husband, Laurie Saulnier. Momâs wishes were that there be no visitation or service. A private family burial will be held at a later date, with a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 009 in Windsor from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Wednesday 24 July 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of oneâs choice. Cards and condolences can be sent to mpulsifer@eastlink.ca, or c/o The Family of Margaret Saulnier, 51 Braemore Ave., Antigonish, NS B2G 1K6. Margieâs family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Hants Community Hospital for the care their mother received. âWhen you go to sleep at night, always remember that somebody loves you.â
