Obituary of Leon Frederick Ackles

Ackles, Leon Frederick – age 92 years of Aylesford, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on May 14, 2013. Born in Welsford, NS on July 12, 1920; he was the son of the late James Earl and Evelyn Ina (Nixon) Ackles. Leon was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Left with fond and loving memories are his nieces Lynda Rines of Kennetcook, Dale, Dawn and Debbie all of Mass, US; nephews James Ettinger of Kennetcook, Wayne Patterson of Somerset and Joseph of Mass, US; grand nieces Zandra, Melody, Cindy and Cheryl Ann; and grand nephew David. Predeceased by his first wife Edna (Patterson) Ackles in 1965, his second wife Helen (Power) Ackles in 2002; infant son James in 1943; sister Norma and brother Robert. In keeping with Leon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held from the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2pm with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will take place at the Berwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leon made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by his family.
