Amyotte, James Patrick âJimâ â age 81 years of New Ross, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on April 21, 2013. Born on January 1, 1932 in Pembroke, ON; he was the son of the late William and Philomene (Soulier) Amyotte. Jim served with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1949-1974, retiring as Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class; he also proudly sailed on board HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure transporting peace keeping troops to Egypt and Cyprus. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, and had a passion for fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Canadian Naval Air Group (CNAG), a leader with Scouts Canada and a member of the Senobe Aquatic Club. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Lorraine (nee Boyce) of New Ross; son Paul (Peggy) Amyotte; daughter Dale Amyotte; step daughter Sandra Lloy (David) all of Dartmouth; brother Bernard Amyotte of Brockville, ON; sister Dorothy Smith of Florida; brother in law Garnet (Donna) Kent of Halifax; sister in law Patricia Chevrier of Dartmouth; grandchildren Jonathan, Matthew, Sarah, Lauren; step grandchildren Ritchie, Shawn, Alexander and Jessica; step great grandson Wesley; also by numerous nieces, nephews and a large number of extended family members. Predeceased by his first wife June in 1992, stepdaughter Sherry Anne Fancy; brothers William, Roland, Lawrence and half sister Blanche McCormack. In keeping with Jimâs wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 2-4pm from the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, New Ross Location (4935 Hwy12 New Ross). Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim made to the Childrenâs Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family.
