Stewart Mildred May (Clarke) âMillieâ, 91, Berwick passed away on Sunday March 3, 2012 at Orchard Villa. Mildred was a daughter of the late Vernon and Sarah (Mills) Clarke of Port Royal, NS and is the last of her Clarke family. Besides her husband Donald and her parents she is predeceased by her sisters Ellen, Atlanta, Olive and Doris, brothers Cecil, Calvin, Elbert and Gordon. Mildred is survived by sons Robert (Sheila) Berwick, NS; Mark (Marni) Lunenburg, NS and Peter (Kathy) Dundas, ON; grandchildren Sara (Tim Lowe), Andrew and Ian and great granddaughter Haley. Mildred, originally from Port Royal, lived many years in Berwick and later in Truro and Dartmouth, where she was active in her community and had an amazing group of friends throughout her life. She combined family and work life along with a love for participating in sports and playing bridge. As a young woman she was a member of the 1946-48 Berwick Foresters Ladies Softball Team, which team was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall Of Fame in 2000. As a curler she skipped the Berwick Curling Club Ladies Team and in 1973 won the first Nova Scotia Womanâs Seniors Championship. That team was also inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall Of Fame in 1999. In 1988 she skipped the Dartmouth Curling Club team to victory in the First Nova Scotia Womanâs Masters championship. She was a long time member of the Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club, and the Dartmouth Seniors Club where here competitive spirit was satisfied at playing bridge. Cremation has take place, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m At the Christ Anglican Church, Berwick, N.S. followed by interment in the Berwick Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow at the house of son, Robert at 251 Commercial Street , Berwick. Family flowers only please, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice. Mildredâs family would like to thank the owner and staff at Orchard Villa for the wonderful care and love that they provided for their mother over the past four years.
