Benjamin, Wilbert Garfield – 88, of Aylesford, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Canning, Scott’s Bay Road, Nova Scotia; he was a son of the late Norman and Frances (Schofield) Benjamin. He was a member of the Aylesford Baptist Church. Wilbert worked in the lumber industry, sheared sheep, was a farm hand, and spent many years at M.W. Graves. He loved taking walks along the trail near his home. Wilbert is survived by his wife, Marion (Slauenwhite), Grand View Manor, Berwick; sons Wilbert Jr. (Charlotte Dempsey), Aylesford; Norman (Clarita), Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren Shyla and Charity, Berwick; brothers Hubert (Eleanor), Burlington; Morley, Nictaux; sisters Pearl, Fredericton, N.B.; Kathleen, Canning; Madeline (Bruce), Bathurst, B.B.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Wilbert was predeceased by his brother Victor; and step-sons Arthur and Ronald Schnare. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick; from where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Clyde Lowe officiating; followed by a burial in the Berwick Cemetery.
