HALL, Mary Lorraine, 84, Digby passed away peacefully on October 21, 2012 in Digby General Hospital. Born May 20, 1928 in Grand Cascapedia, Quebec. Lorraine was the daughter of the late Vincent P. and Nina M. (Willett) Hall. Over the years she worked at the Nova Scotia Tourist Bureau, Eaton's and Sears Catalogue offices in Digby. With her husband Charlie she owned Hall's Furnishings and later Hall's Carpets. They were not only partners in business, but in many other endeavors. Charlie might have been the one to volunteer, but Lorraine worked hard to support his efforts whether for the church, the Digby Fire Department (winter carnivals, especially), building of the Digby Fish & Game lodge, the Royal Canadian Legion Digby and Bear River Branches, the Masonic Lodge or the Western Valley Shriners (aka. Wilma Flintstone). In her earlier years she enjoyed curling and bowling. She was a long time member of Trinity Anglican Church, Digby where she served in the choir for 45 years and on the alter guild. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at camp or at the lake. She loved to cook and bake and her kitchen was always open to unexpected guests. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Richard) Cook and son, Glen (Rebecca). Dearest Nanny to Tiffany Barrett, Joyelle (Rob) Black, Trent (Tammy) Cook, Charity Curtis, Payton (Julianna) Curtis, Shayne Hall, Brooke (Jeff) Nodding, Brandy Cook and Trevor Hall. Great-grandmother to Aidan and Olivia Cook, Sydney and Logan Black, Brett Hall, Kaidin Cann Hall, Riley Barrett and Morgan Nodding. Sisters, Marie Sexton and Alice Walker; brothers, Arvill (Opal), Richard (Dorothy),Raynold (Eileen) and Irby (Gayle); many nieces and nephews across Canada. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles; her daughter, Lee; sister, Lillian (Burns) Robertson; brothers, William (Norah), Vincent (Ida) and Everett (at birth); step-father, Ellis Robertson; brothers-in-law, Alex Nellis, Norman Sexton and John Walker; granddaughter-in-law, Kristy Cann. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. A memorial service will be held in Trinity Anglican Church, 109 Queen St, Digby on Saturday, November 10th at 11am, internment at Forrest Hill Cemetery, followed by a reception at the church hall. At the request of family, there will be no visitation and family flowers only. Donations may be made to the New Roof Fund Trinity Church or to a charity of choice.
