Obituary of Jean Maude Fletcher

Fletcher, Jean Maude - 78, passed away on July 17 at Windsor Elms Village. Born in Brooklyn, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Reid and Maude (Zwicker) Mumford. A graduate of Windsor Academy, Jean attended Provincial Normal College, Truro, and also held a diploma in Primary Education from the Dept. of Education. Jean was a member of Newport United Church, Brooklyn, and transferred to Knox United Church, Lower Sackville. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and also served as a member of the choir. Jean is survived by daughters, Susan and Shari; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sherry (Gary) Fletcher, Bible Hill; brother, Arthur (June) Mumford, Windsor; sister, Ruth (Robert) Harvey, Halifax; several nieces and nephews; brother in law, Albert (Ollie) Pick, Greenfield; aunt, Rena Walker, Chester Grant, and special cousin, Emily Hines, who has been such a great friend and helper to Jean. A sincere thank you to Cindy Shupe for all her kindness. The family would also like to thank Windsor Elms?¢ Staff, especially those on Fundyview Terrace, for their excellent care & support. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by son, Calvin Fletcher; grandson, Joshua Fletcher; sister, Elizabeth (Bette) Pick; long-time friend, Ray Mackana. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Windsor Elms Village, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 with Rev. Deborah Mosher officiating. Jean's ashes will be buried in Debert at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB, Cancer or Arthritis Society, or charity of choice.
