Please share a memory of Barabara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CRIBBY (Sears), Barbara Ann ?쳌 67. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt in Win Oaks Memorial Hospital, on July 12, 2012, surrounded by her family. Born in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Gordon and Frances (Cheverie) Sears. Surviving are sons, David (Lori) Roche, Waverley; Sean MacDonald, Calgary, Alta.; daughter, Deborah (Marc) Leger, West Porters Lake; granddaughters, Chelsea and Samantha; brother, Gordon (Bonnie) Sears, Cook's Brook; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Norman Sears and one son in infancy. Barb always loved to be surrounded by friends and family, and was involved in various activities throughout her life starting as a teen with the Kiwanis Youth Band as a Majorette. As she got older she was very proud of her involvement with the ANAF Unit 349 in Dartmouth and upon moving to the Annapolis Valley, became involved in the Women's Institute in Weston where she met many wonderful ladies. Barb also loved to write. Her passion and humour came through in her song writing and in her bi-weekly contribution in the Berwick Register, sharing the news from her community, and her adventures in her much loved Valley home. Barb had many jobs through her life, but she most enjoyed time spent at Woolco in Dartmouth, the adventure and challenge of running her restaurant Cribby's Cafe in the K-Mart Mall and her last job at Canadian Tire in Dartmouth Crossing. Her time working in these places was made all the more enjoyable due to the people she met and the friends she made. The family is very grateful to the Palliative Home Care team, the VON, and the nursing staff at Twin Oaks Hospital for their support in caring for our mother, and a huge thank you to Dr. Morzycki and his team and Dr. Rheume for helping to extend the time we had with her. Cremation has taken place; private interment will take place at a later date. As per her wishes, there will not be a funeral; however, we will be celebrating her life with family and friends at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Greater Halifax District or Metro SPCA.
