ALLINSON, Hazel Elizabeth Parker (Ogilvie) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on Friday, April 20th 2012. At 93 years young, Hazel lived a very full life. Born in Harbourville on January 26, 1919 to Ebb and Etta Ogilvie, Hazel was the eldest of the six children. She is survived by husband, Art Allinson, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, sisters, Alice (Clifford) Ellis, New Brunswick; Myrtle Whitney, Halls Harbour; and Joyce Ireland, Florida. Hazel is predeceased by sisters Dorothy, Pauline and brother George . Hazel was married to Rufus Parker and together they had five children, Mary (Jim) Lamb, Ontario; Jon (Barb) Parker, Ontario; Bill (Colleen) Aidrie, Alberta; Sharon (Darrell) Lutz, Tremont; Jerry (Irma), Melvern Square; and a chosen daughter Freda (John) Aker, Coldbrook. Hazel owned and operated a private nursing home for many years and was a part-time she sold real-estate. She was very involved with her church, from teaching Sunday School to organizing special events. She was well known for her baking accomplishments and there was always room for one more at the dinner table if someone should drop by. After Rufus's death, Hazel moved to Alberta where she worked for Alberta Home Care and met Art. In November 0f 2011 they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Hazel had met her prince charming whom she dearly loved. With their marriage, Hazel also added to her family with nine step-children, Dallas, Joan, Jean Audrey, Yvonne, Doug , Colleen, Rod and Mert. With the two families combined they had long list of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hazel and Art had some wonderful excursions, traveling Canada from one coast to the other. Together they were always on the go playing music and singing for the seniors. Hazel never considered herself a senior, she felt being a senior was a state of mind. Up until her illness in February of this year, she remained as sharp as a tack. Although we mourn her loss here on earth, we rest in the knowledge that she is now with her savior. Time has a way of healing wounds of the heart and we are left with wonderful memories. A memorial service was held in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on April 28th. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 5 at 3:00 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick with Reverend Marilyn Rose officiating. Interment will take place following the reception in the Berwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burlington Cemetery.
