McKinnon, Curtis Alvah - 90, of Hantsport, passed away on Wednesday March 21, 2012 in the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Veterans Unit, Middleton, NS. Born in Port Williams; he was a son of the late Marsden and Viola (Winters). Curtis owned and operated Home Hardware stores in Hantsport and Wolfville for most of his life. He served in the Second World War on the Fleur-de-lys. Curtis was a member of the Hantsport Legion Branch No. 109, choir director in the Hantsport Baptist Church for many years, and he was a charter member of the Dukes of Kent. He really enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of his peach orchard. Curtis will be sadly missed by his son Rob (Lorna), Chilliwack, BC; daughters Heather (Don) Marshall, Hampton, NS; Dale Janes, Hantsport; Maryann (Ken) Boyd, Lake Echo, NS; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Curtis was predeceased by his wife Charlotte Marie - Chrisì³ (DeLong), brothers Fred; Marsden; Bruce; sisters Dorothy Wellwood; Mary Meisner; and one grandson. The family are very thankful for the excellent care and attention given to Curtis while he was a patient in the Veterans Unit of the Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place at the Riverbank Cemetery followed by a public reception in the Hantsport Baptist Church (Reception Area) on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in may be made to the CNIB, Hantsport Baptist Church, or to a charity of choice.
