Field, Donald Lavere - passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Camp Hill Veteran Hospital, Halifax. Born in Apple River, Cumberland County in 1923; he was a son of the late Everett and Helen (Scott). Don was an adherent member of the United Church of Canada, a former member of the Sussex, New Brunswick Lions Club and a member of the New Minas Lions club. He was a former member of the Kentville Rotary Club, the Kentville Curling Club and the Sussex Kiwanis Club. Don was the former President of the Sussex Legion and a long time member of the Berwick Ortona Branch Legion #69. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sussex, New Brunswick. Don served in the RCAF during World War Two, and served in many parts of Canada, England, and Wales. He worked for 43 years with Canada Packers Limited in the Maritime provinces mostly in management positions. Don was a member and past president of Canada Packers Quarter Century Club. He was an honorary member of the Chicken Producers Association of Nova Scotia and a life member of the CPEPC. Don was well known and highly respected throughout the Canadian Poultry Processing Industry. He served for many years on council committees and held executive positions on the council. Don was only the second person to receive an award from the CPEPC. In the opinion of the members he had - demonstrated a sincere desire to serve the council and poultry industry with extraordinary dedication, determination, and enthusiasmì³. Don was a kind, patient, and loving man who, through his generosity and dedication to his family and the people he worked with, earned the respect of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Marguerite - Margì³ (Keddy), daughters Lorraine (Aiton) McQuinn and Gloria (Seth) House, both of Sussex, New Brunswick; step daughter Kathie (Kevin Parker) Brown, New Minas; grandchildren Tara (Dana) Black, Sussex, New Brunswick; Shane (Amanda) McQuinn, Moncton, New Brunswick; Jeremy (Antonia) House, Ottawa, Ontario; Miranda (Will) Thomson, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Emily House, Sussex, New Brunswick; Ryan Brown, New Minas; Erika Brown, New Minas; great grandchildren; sister-in-law Audrey Field, Toronto, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Margaret Mitton, Grace Copp, Jennie O?¢Brien (Millage); and brothers Raymond and Sydney. A visitation will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick from where a Royal Canadian Legion Service followed by funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Reverend Leo Fletcher officiating; interment at the Elm Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of the 6 East unit of the Camp Hill Veteran?¢s Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion of their husband and father.
