MacDonald, Calvin Albert - 86, passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Born in Port Hilford, he was a son of the late Henry and Maude (Jordan). Calvin was a wonderful man. He was an excellent provider and worked very hard at everything he did. He tried his hand at many things throughout life and would do anything for his children and grandchildren; he even helped his son Bruce make donuts in his bakery and was very good at it. Calvin and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling together. He fought in WW11 and spent over 50 years working with the Ortona Branch #69 Royal Canadian Legion and was a Veteran Club Membership Chairmen. Calvin will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Lutz); sons Bruce, Garland; Blair, Garland; stepson William; brother Charles (Mabel) Kentville; sister Joyce (Kenneth) Mills, Port Hilford; grandchildren Sarah, Kate, Alex, Shawn, Jeff, and Joy; great grandsons Thomas and Joesph; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Joe and Jeannette Furlong. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 7-9 pm in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick from where a legion service will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 2 p.m. with Associate Chaplain Budd Ewing and Honorary Chaplain Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating; followed by a memorial service with Reverend Freda MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Black Rock Baptist Church, Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or Kidney Foundation.
