Pick, John Jacob - 97, of Kentville, passed away in the Valley Regional Hospital on Friday, November 11, 2011. Born in White Rock he was a son of the late Jacob and Matilda (Leary) Pick. John was a veteran of WW11, and was a member and past president of the Wolfville Legion. He ran the Pick and Hancock Mill in White Rock and drove school bus for 16 years. John loved wood carving and used to build tables, lamps and shelves. He especially loved building them for others. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family but is survived by several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Marian (Baltzer); step son, Byron Sawlor; and brothers, Ralph, Thomas, George, Lester, and Clyde. A visitation will be held in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home Chapel, Wolfville, on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 6-8 pm from where a funeral service will also take place on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 2 pm, followed by burial in the White Rock Cemetery; Lay Chaplain Jim Norton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VON Kings County Branch.
