Smith, Mamie Hazel - 88, passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2011 in Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Country Harbor, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Gertrude (Hudson) Smith. Mamie loved music as well as enjoyed dancing at the Newfoundland Dance Club. She was always one to put others ahead of herself. She is survived by her daughters; Geraldine Smith, Waverley; Sandra Smith, Halifax; Brother Whylie, Dunmore; and sisters Reta (Sandy) MacIssac, Ontario; Winona (Don) Buchan, Ontario; Nettie (Milfred) Harding, Ontario; and Rosina Wallace, Merland, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews . Besides her parents she is predeceased by her brothers Frank, Howard (Infancy), Wilfred; and sisters Hilda, Claudine, Helen, Flossie, Edith, and Aileen. As request of the family there will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery Hwy 316 in Crossroads Country Harbor on Friday July 1, 2011 at 2:00pm, Lay Chaplin Jim Norton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Evergreen Cemetery, Diabetes Association, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Serenity Lindsay Funeral Homes, 568 Main St. Wolfville, B4P 1E7.
