Obituary of George Edward Libby

Libby, George Edward - 73, born in Richford, Vermont; he was the son of the late Andrew Richard and Ruth Margaret (Gibson) Libby. He moved to Brome, Quebec with his parents upon his father?¢s retirement in 1945. Having served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he retired and moved his family to the Annapolis Valley in 1973. His career as an addictions counsellor began with the inception of a newly formed department at the Valley Regional Hospital (Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital). Later to be named the Crosbie House in honour of its first director, Dr. Jack Crosbie. George is survived by his wife Donna (Bent); two daughters Shannon Libby (Jack); Jodi (Brad) Pineo; and son Eric; grandchildren Katelyn and Brent Libby, Calen and Sadie Woodworth, Mitchell Pineo and Chaz Libby. A memorial service for George will be held at the New Minas United Church, 130 Cornwallis Avenue, New Minas, Nova Scotia on Saturday July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend David Shaw officiating. In lieu of flowers; donations in George?¢s memory may be made to his favourite charity; the Kings County SPCA.
