Obituary of Donald Elliott Denney
Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DENNEY, Donald Elliott?ì³85, Kentville, died peacefully at home on June 24, 2011.
Don Denney was always hip-deep in life. Many times even neck deep. For him that was the whole point: to touch and taste and test everything. To be alive to life. To use it all up on his own terms and in his own way. Never afraid to work hard to make his plans work out. Always ready to try again if they didn't.
He was a man of many remarkable parts and singular achievements. He was, in his time, a World War II flyer, a licensed pilot, a dance band musician, a front page newspaper photographer, a large business manager, a best-in-Canada car dealer, a ground-breaking videographer, an independent film maker, and a pioneer in the computer business. But his greatest achievement was that the world knew him best as a "good guy." Nothing more. Nothing less.
But he was always much, much more to those who knew him best and loved him most. To his children and his grandchildren he was more than the best dad and grampie in the world, he was also a pal who you could always count on to be the calm centre of things?ì³always good for a story and a laugh and the guy who could fix anything.
Don Denney was a man complete. It was a joy and comfort to know him. One corner of our hearts will be forever empty without him.
Don is survived by his wife Lynn, his first wife Brittie, his son Don, daughters Brenda and Charlotte, his step-children Michael, Abbey and Emily Trafton, brothers Emmerson and Jon Gordon, sisters Jean and Pat, his granddaughters Shawna, Elenna, Celine and Aprill, his eight great grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and his stepmother Isabelle. He was predeceased by his parents Lottie (Dot) and Andrew.
