HOLT (Blenus), Eileen Marjorie 80, of Hillaton, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the Wolfville Nursing Home, Wolfville, following a long battle with Parkinson?¢s and dementia. Born in Canning, Eileen was the daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie (Crocker) Blenus. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother. Prior to her marriage she was a teacher in Scots Bay and Blomidon, the manager of the canteen at Aldershot, and later became a stenographer for Lindsay?¢s Funeral Home. Eventually Eileen married and devoted all of her time to her family. She loved all creatures and made a wonderful farmer?¢s wife, caring for all the animals alongside her husband. Eileen was an excellent baker and was extremely generous, making many cakes, cookies, squares, and pies for family, friends, and fundraisers. She also made a numerous wedding cakes for local brides. Eileen actively supported her United Church community as well as the Canning Fire Department, various charities and school functions. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Eileen is survived by her loving husband, George, Greenwich; sons Paul (Claire), Rhodes Corner; Arthur, California; daughter Mary, Greenwich; four grandchildren, Olivia and Marilyn Zimmerman, and Rachel and Michaela Holt; her brother Lloyd (Sylvia), Blockhouse, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Ralph, Laurie, Wayne and Cecil. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home and Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, Nova Scotia B4P 1E7 with Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to Parkinson?¢s Foundation or Canning Fire Department.
