MACASKILL, Harris Joseph - 84, of New Ross, passed away on April 28, 2011 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Kennetcook he was the son of the late Creelman and Lavina (Clattenburg) MacAskill. Harris worked for years in the New Ross Saw Mill. He was a friend of the community and was very well liked by all. Harris is survived by his wife Shirley (Meister, Levy); step sons John (Debbie) Levy, Waterville; Nigel (Darlene) Levy, New Ross; step daughters Lavern (Tom) Rafuse, New Germany; Diana (Robert) McDow, New Ross; sister Effie (Bob) Skalitoky, USA; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Besides his parents Harris is predeceased by his step son James and two grand children; brothers James; Murray; Percy; Creelman; Leslie; and sisters Ella-mae; Susan; Olla; Louise; Annie; Bernice; Jeanette. A visitation will be held in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home and Crematorium, 4935 Highway #12, New Ross, Nova Scotia B0J 2M0 on Tuesday May 3, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the New Ross Baptist Church with Pastor David Hine officiating. Service will be followed by Interment in the Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to the CNIB, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of choice.
