Please share a memory of Leo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
FORD, Leo Dorance ?ì³ It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leo Dorance Ford of Aylesford. He passed away quietly at home on February 16, 2011, after battling cancer, with his loving wife of 60 years holding his hand as he quietly slipped away. Born in Pangman, Sask. June 12, 1929, son of the late Harry Fredrick and Martha Beatrice Ford. His younger brother, Keith (Marlene) of Kelona, B.C. is the last surviving member of eight brothers and three sisters. Leo served 26 years with the RCAF and was posted throughout Canada and overseas. He was a skilled handyman with a passion for clocks, woodworking and contact dominoes. He could always be found in his workshop or helping a neighbor. As a trained military driver, he left those skills with the DND, as any passenger can attest to. He despised Don Cherry as much as Judge Judy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara (McPhee); children, Karen (Ken), Audrey (Allen), Leo (Barbara), Raymond (Tamara) and Frank; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his companion, Chico. He was predeceased by his sons, Ronald Lawrence and Darryl Lynn Ford. At Leo's request, no services will be held, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Bustin and Bernice, Dr. Merryweather, Dr. Burgess, and Katrina Patterson, as well as members of VON, for their care and compassion.
