COOK, Frances Pauline - 86, Cambridge Station, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, in the North Hills Nursing Home, Granville Ferry. Born in South Waterville, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late William A. and Nellie M. (Arnburg) Mahar. Frances enjoyed her family and many friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Frances had a funny sense of humour and enjoyed flowers, frenchy shopping and going to yard sales. Surviving are her children, Brian (Carolyn) Cook, Windermere; Juanita (Ron) Fogarty, Ontario; Ada (Dwight) Schofield, Port Williams; Sandra Brittain, Aylesford; Heather Strong, Waterville; Jean (Larry Corkum) McNeil, Berwick; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Leslie (Helen) Mahar, Kentville; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her companion, Arthur B. Lightfoot; son, Gary Cook; sons-in-law, George Brittain; Vincent Strong; sisters, Marguerite Messom; Hazel Mahar; Doris Atkins. Visitation for Mrs. Cook will take place from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23. Rev. David Elliott officiating, with burial in the Cambridge Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
