HAMPSEY, Patrick Joseph - 77, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Windermere, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Charles Joseph and Mary Agnes (Toney) Hampsey. Pat was a long-time employee at the Berwick Fruit Company and later at Huyck Canada Ltd., Kentville. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish, Berwick. Pat was a sports enthusiast enjoying baseball, softball, golf, hockey, curling and tennis. He was inducted in the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame, was active at the Berwick Apple Capital Museum and was a former member of the Berwick and District Curling Club. Pat was well known as a local historian, had a column in the Kings County Register for several years and along with Anne McKenna had published three books on the history of Berwick and area. Surviving are his wife, Carol D. (Doherty) Hampsey, Berwick; sisters, Joyce Voghel, Berwick; Theresa (Victor) Brown, Kingston; brothers, John (Norma), Aylesford; Jim, Berwick; Eric, Woodville; David (Sylvia Keddy), South Berwick; several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Pat will take place 7-9 p.m., Friday, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 120 Mill St., Berwick. Rev. Fr. Larry Pitcher officiating, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Berwick Apple Capital Museum or to any charity.
