HOUGHTON, Carol Aileen - 67, Coldbrook, Kings Co. With heavy hearts the family announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Walton, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Agnes (Weatherbee) Smith. Carol was a member of the Berwick United Church and had also been a member of both the Berwick and District Lions Club and the Coldbrook and District Lions Club. She has been an active volunteer for several community organizations. Surviving are her husband, Richard H. Houghton, Coldbrook; son, David (Lynn) Miller Jr., Moncton, N.B.; daughters, Tammy (Brandon) Smith, Chester Basin; Teresa (Jodey) King, New Minas; her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Kate, Tyler, Brent, Parker, Mitch, Noah and Jack; mother-in-law, Shirley Houghton, Berwick; brother, Phillip (Carolyn) Smith, Summerville; sisters, Linda (Burton) Sanford, Walton; Marcia (Allen) Galley, British Columbia; Heather (Merton Weatherbee) McLellan, Pembrooke; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, David and Brian Smith; sister, Sharon Burgess. Visitation for Carol will take place from 7-9 p.m., Friday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, August 14, in the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Linda Winton officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
