MILLER (CROSS), Violet Ellen - Viì³ - 72, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Born on July 29, 1938, in Shawville, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Beulah (Hodgins) Cross. Prior to her marriage she was employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Ottawa. She later worked for Wilson?¢s Pharmacy in Berwick until her retirement in 1997. Vi?¢s greatest joy was her family and she especially enjoyed summers spent at the family cottage on Lake LeMarchant, Digby Co. where she spent many happy hours tending her beautiful flower gardens, kayaking on the calm evening lake and four-wheeling with her husband and friends. Vi was a member of Berwick United Church and over the years was involved as a volunteer at Grand View Manor, Berwick and with the Canadian Red Cross Society. She gained much enjoyment through travel and was always ready to visit a new location with her family or friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, David, Berwick; daughters, Shelby (Doug) Hine, Cincinnati, Ohio; Sue Ellen (Pernell) Verhaeghe, Lantz; son, Jon (Sherry Kedy), Oromocto, N.B.; four cherished grandchildren, Joshua (Rachael), David, Ellen and Parker; brothers, Harland (Cecilia) Cross, Edgewater, B.C.; John (Lucie) Cross, Manotick, Ont.; sisters, Shirley Stewart; Iva (Joe) Cunningham; Heather Cross, all of Ottawa, Ont. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Marion a brother, Clare; brother-in-law Bruce Stewart. Special thanks is extended to Dr. Lori Burgess and Katrina Patterson of the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care and to the incredible team of caring V.O.N. Nurses for their compassionate care and support. Visitation for Vi will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 8, in the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Linda Winton and Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch, Palliative Care Program of Annapolis Valley Health .
