ARMSTRONG, J. Lorimer ?쳌 81, Kempt Shore, died peacefully at home on July 16, 2010. He was born in Kempt Shore to the late Feetham and Alice (Parker) Armstrong, January 2, 1929. He was predeceased by his daughter Joanne Church, grandson Michael Church, brother, Stanley, sisters, Jessie, Phyllis, Clara, Lucy and Kathy. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of nearly 56 years, Joan (Taylor); son, Jimmie (Wendy Brown), Summerville; daughters, Carol (Doug) O'Leary, Newport Corner, Brenda (Trevor McEachern) Garlands Crossing. He was a special"Pups" to grandchildren, Adam and Morgan, Ryan and Jonathan, Kyla, Brandon and Alec and great-grandchildren Madisen and Michael. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He retired as Shop Foreman from the Fundy Gypsum Company where he was employed for 40 years. Prior to that time he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Dresser Minerals and the Department of Transportation and drove trucks for a number of companies. He found enjoyment in hunting, fishing,vegetable gardening, horses, working in the woods,going to the auto auctions with Jimmie, watching the birds at his feeders, watching the news and sports on TV, reading the paper and washer toss. He was an avid fan of boxing and hockey and could recall many events. He enjoyed and especially loved his family gatherings on Sundays and teasing anyone he could get a reaction from. He loved all of us and never asked for anything in return. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Serenity Funeral Homes and Crematorium. A memorial funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 1 at 2 p.m. in Kempt United Baptist Church in Summerville, Hwy. 215. Interment in Kempt United Church Cemetery. Reception details to follow. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A., Hants Shore Community Health Centre (633-2110), or a charity of your choice.
