Born in Black Rock, Kings Co., he was the son of the late Archibald and Marion (Foote) Balsor. With heavy hearts and lots of tears we say goodbye to a devoted husband, loving father and caring grand and great-grandfather. This year on October 21st, he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage to his best friend and the love of his life, Grace - Grannyì³ Balsor. Vance served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War after which time he bought and operated a farm in Viewmount. He then owned his own company, Balsor?¢s Landscaping, prior to being employed with the Department of Transportation for several years as a road foreman. Vance took great pride in his gardens, farming his own vegetables for many years and sharing them with everyone. He loved company and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, often recalling many stories of politics, jokes, hunting and fishing trips especially those with his grandsons all while enjoying Granny?¢s homemade bread. Vance was known for his dedication to his family and was a member of the Black Rock Baptist Church. He lovingly chose nicknames for each of his grand and great-grandchildren with each holding a special place in his heart. Vance also referred to his loving wife of 69 years as - Grannyì³. Never a selfish man he enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be missed more than he will ever know.
