Rhynold, Harley Anthony - Waterville, Kings Co., passed away on his 85th. birthday, Thursday, January 28, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Canso, on January 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Anthony and Ethel (Snow) Rhynold. Harley was a veteran of the Second World War, and proudly served in the Canadian Army in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe from 1944-46. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch # 69, Berwick, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish, Berwick. Surviving are his beloved wife, Joyce L. (Dort) Gillis-Rhynold, Waterville; dear father of Audry (Robert) Garside, Brampton, Ont.; Beverley (Tom) Kyron, Toronto, Ont.; Deborah (Ted) Smith, Guelph, Ont.; step-children, Stephen (Holly) Gillis; Cathy (Chris) Cooke, all of Waterville; special grandfather to nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Hilda), Minden, Ont.; sister, Lottie (Gerry) Galbraith, B.C.; mother of his children, Lila Rhynold, Toronto, Ont. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughters, Louise Cole; Barbara McGill; brothers, Lawson, James, and Alfred Rhynold; sisters, Frances Carter, Minnie DeAdder. There will be no formal visitation, however all are welcome to a Royal Canadian Legion Service which will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, from where the funeral service will take place 3 p.m., Monday, February 1. Rev. Fr. Sean Cahill officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery, at a later date.
