Cox, Donald Leander Sr.- 90, Brooklyn, Hants County passed away January 23, 2010 in Halifax. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, he was a son of the late Wilber (Eunice "Mercie" Coffin) and Jean (Warren) Brittian. After returning to Nova Scotia he was very active in the Baptist Faith including West End United Baptist Church, Halifax; Birch Cove Baptist Church, Halifax, where he was a charter member, and Windsor United Baptist Church, Windsor. He was well known across Canada for his involvement with the Bird Association. Don is survived by his son, Royce (Mary), Toronto; daughter, Rosemary, Windsor; daughter in law, Mirian Cox (Richard Heinz), River John; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and former daughter in law and friend, Pam Butt, Ontario. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife Rose (MacKinnon); son, Donald Lee and brother John. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral memorial service followed by a reception will be held Thursday January 28, 2010 at 11:00 in the Windsor United Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffrey G White officiating. Private family interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory may be made to the charity of choice.
