Obituary of Bertha Corkum

Corkum, Bertha Ellen - 87, New Minas, passed away peacefully Thursday January 28, 2010 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville following a short illness. Born at the Look Off on Scott's Bay Road, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel (Benjamin) Corkum. Bertha was a quietly reflective woman who loved her home and was a devoted care taker to her beloved dog, Martha. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her late husband Hollis and often reflected on the Florida weather. Besides her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Hollis; her brother Clarence; her stepbrothers Wylie, Ember; her stepsister, Flossie Porter; several brother and sister-in-laws; several nieces and nephews. Bertha is survived by her special nephews, Colin (Ginny) Corkum, Lower Sackville; Leon "Skip" (Chris) Corkum, Rawdon Gold Mines; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or funeral service for the late Mrs. Bertha Corkum by her own request. Interment will take place in Hillaton Cemetery, at a later date. No flowers please, however donations in her memory may be made to the Haiti relief fund or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.C.
