ELLIS, Mary Eunice, 85, Melanson, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ellis on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at her home in Melanson surrounded by loving family. She was a daughter of the late Elmer Allen and Leah (Gent) Allen. Mary is survived by grandson Gerald (Kelley) Hines, great grandchildren Channing, Courtney and Brett, son-in-law Kenneth Hines, sisters Thelma Duncan, Josephine (Bruce) Dunlop, Lila (Sandy) MacLean, Patricia (Peter) Longino, brothers Edwin (Edna) Allen, Robert (Muriel)Allen, Peter (Anne) Allen, brother-in-law Ronald Ellis, sisters-in-law Muriel Earl and Connie Hancock, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Carol Marie Hines, husband Gerald Martin, husband Raymond Ellis and brother William Allen. Mary was a very caring and giving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend. She was a keen lover of nature, artistically gifted painter, with expertise in a wide variety of crafts, sharing her skills with family and friends. Following her teaching career, she graduated from Mack Business College and worked for Bevan and Wilson Insurance. Mary was an active member of the Avonport United Baptist Church where her Funeral Service, followed by a reception, will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Gail Whelan-Dunn and Rev. Sandy MacLean officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 568 Main Street, Wolfville. Interment will take place at Gaspereau Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations in Mary?¢s memory may be made to the Avonport United Baptist Church, Valley Regional Hospital, or to a charity of one?¢s choice. The family wish to express their appreciation to all of Mary?¢s care providers, with a special thanks to Lillian Matthews.
