Obituary of Grant Taylor

86, Kentville NS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2007. Born in London Ontario on August 27, 1921, he was the only child of the late Hector and Ina (Kent) Taylor. Grant grew up in Exeter Ontario. He served in the Second World War as an officer in the 13th Canadian Field Artillery Regiment, Third Canadian Division. In 1945, he married Jean Walker of Windsor NS. Graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1946 with a BSc in Chemistry, Grant spent his working life with in Sarnia ON with Polysar Inc, and in Ottawa with the federal Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce, Chemicals Branch. Grant was active in the militia for many years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served three terms as a public school board trustee in Sarnia and Lambton County. In 1981, he and Jean built a home in Wolfville where they enjoyed retirement for 26 years. Grant was a past president of the Rotary Club of Wolfville, a member of the Wolfville Planning Advisory Committee and a treasurer of the Wolfville Memorial Library Foundation. Grant was predeceased by Jean in June of this year and subsequently moved to Wedgewood House in Kentville. Grant is survived by his son David (Martha) Taylor, and grandchildren Scott and Jennifer, Calgary. A special thank-you to Patti McNutt and the staff at Wedgewood House, Penni Burrell and Kimberley Smith. There will be no visitation by the family's request. There will be a graveside service held at 2 PM Thursday, October 11, in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. All friends and family welcome. A reception will follow at H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Avenue, Kentville. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home. Flowers gratefully accepted.
