83, Morden, Kings Co., passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at home. Born in Hantsport, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Whitman) Veino. Joyce was a life-long member of the Anglican Church; at the end she belonged to the Parish of St. Mary's where she served as a lay reader and pastoral visitor and was the President of the St. Mary's Anglican Church Women. She was the organist of the Morden United Church. She was a graduate of the Provincial Normal College, Truro.Her teaching career included numerous schools, finally retiring at St. Mary's Elementary School, Aylesford. Joyce enjoyed the community life in Morden, the village she loved, since settling there as a new bride in 1950. She and her beloved husband Reg were founding members of the Berwick and District Curling Club. Joyce's energetic spirit, wonderful sense of humour, love and personality, touched the lives of many people throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her sons, Joseph Stevens, Port Williams; James (Stephanie) Stevens, Morden; John (Nadine) Stevens, Bridgewater; daughter, Shirley (Ronald) Hartling, Wilmot; grandchildren, Tamara, Reggie, Charlotte, Jessica, Jeremy, Shannon, Stacey; great-granddaughter, Maddie; brother, F. Edward (Grace) Veino, Halifax; sister, Violet (Wallace) Boran, Oxford; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Reginald W. Stevens; brothers, Robert and Gilbert Veino. Visitation for Joyce will take place 7-9 p.m., Monday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral Service will take place 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, in St. Mary's Anglican Church, 20 Morden Rd., Auburn. Rev. Charles Bull officiating, assisted by Father Donald Sharp, with burial in the Aylesford United Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Christ Church, Morden, Palliative Care Program of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch or to any charity.
