84, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Fraxville, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Rufus S. and Emily L. (Legge) Hiltz. Parnell was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Berwick and was active with the A.C.W., always cooking for church events. She had worked at M.W. Graves Ltd., Berwick, for 40 years and had earlier worked at the Canning Factory in Aylesford. Surviving are her husband, Laurie K. Powers, Berwick. Proud sister to brothers, Carl (Eva) Hiltz, Fraxville, Lunenburg Co.; Calvin (Jean) Hiltz, Forties; sisters, Leola Hiltz, Fraxville; Lucille Avery, Lower Sackville; Thelma Keillor, Beaver Bank; Rolena Brown-Cochrane, Forties; Lois Durling, Cambridge, Kings Co.; brothers-in-law, Clyde Goulden, Aylesford; Linton (Evelyn) Powers, South Berwick; sisters-in-law, Alma Hiltz, Fraxville; Gloria Cunningham, Berwick; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Dean and Clinton Hiltz; sisters, Goldie Hiltz, Phyllis Goulden; Aileen Hiltz; Melba Barkhouse. Visitation for Parnell will take place 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Tuesday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral, Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, in Christ Anglican Church, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Charles Bull officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to any charity.
