65, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away with her family at her side on Thursday September 4, 2008, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a short & courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co. she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Gyneth (Silver) Silver. At the age of 17, Sherald began her teaching career in Wolfville and taught at various schools prior to raising her family. She was a devoted member of the Berwick United Church, where she had been an elder & former clerk of session. She was an avid gardener and an active volunteer in the community. Sherald enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, sewing and knitting. She was an enormously generous, kind & thoughtful person who gave freely of her time to help others. Sherald was a pillar of strength to her family & friends and an exceptional grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Reginald Patterson, Berwick; son, Gary (Cheryl) Patterson, Utica, Michigan; daughters, Gina (Curtis) Dietz, Hacketts Cove; Gwendolyn (Russell) Manderville, Halifax; grandchildren, Clare, Chloe & James Patterson; Greta, Kate & Peter Dietz; Liam Manderville, Benjamin & Luke Saunders; brother, Keith (Corinne) Silver, Rockland; many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Lt(N) Chris Saunders. Visitation for Sherald will take place 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Saturday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service will take place 3 p.m. Sunday September 7, in the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Linda Winton officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery.
