81, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 18, 2008, in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Aylesford, he was a son of the late Myron and Blanch (Morton) Nichols. Laird was a business partner with his brother, Ambrose Nichols, all of their lives. They were involved with farming, construction and had rental properties. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Yvonne C. (Metie) Nichols, Wolfville Nursing Home; brother, Garth (Shirley) Nichols, West Willington, Conn.; sister, Evangeline (Jim) MacGillivary, Brockville, Ont.; sister-in-law, Maude Nichols, Grand View Manor, Berwick; nieces & nephews, Dr. Blair (Susan) Nichols, Wolfville; Terry (Deborah) Nichols, Waterville; Darrell (Jane) Nichols, King City, Ont.; Kathryn Rose, Bedford; Bradley Nichols, Oshawa, Ont.; Janet (Henry) Tellier, North Windham, Conn.; Jean (John) Tyler, Norwich, Conn.; Joan Sweet, Vernon, Conn.; Eric (Linda) Nichols, West Willington, Conn.; Lyn & Dwain MacGillivary, both of Ont. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ambrose Nichols. Visitation for Laird will take place, from 1-2 p.m., funeral at 2 p.m. followed by a reception all on Wednesday October 22, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Rev. Linda Winton officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery.
