92, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Monday, May 25, 2009, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Mom was born on East Ironbound Island, Lunenburg Co and was a daughter of the late Willis and Mary Ellen (Wambolt) Finck. When she was very young she came to Somerset to help her aunt and uncle, Sadie (Wambolt) and Percy Nichols with their General Store. When her uncle passed away she remained in Somerset with her aunt and finished her schooling in the valley. After high school she attended Madame Harriett's School of Beauty Culture and met her future husband, Bill Murley, while travelling back and forth to Aylesford. For 40 years, Mom and Dad operated the general store in Somerset that they had bought from her aunt. In addition, Mom did hairdressing in that same building. After Dad's death, Mom moved to Berwick, where she lived until October of 2008. At that time, she went to Hilltop Haven in Coldbrook, where she lived, laughed and enjoyed the camaraderie of Darlene and "the girls" until her death on May 25. Mom was a long-time member of the Berwick Baptist Church and the Weston-Welsford-Somerset Auxilliary. She was a great homemaker who was well organized, a recycler long before it became a global issue. She was a great cook and enjoyed her flower gardens and vegetable gardening as well as sewing, knitting, crocheting and playing bridge. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Murley; sister, Mildred Poole; brother, Isaac Finck; several brothers- and sisters-in-law. Surviving are daughters, Elaine (Ken) Roscoe, Cambridge Sta.; Marjorie (Jim) King, Corner Brook, NL; brother, Arthur (Muriel) Finck; sister, Marion MacInnis, all of Halifax; granddaughters, Susan (Marven) Anstey, Marystown, NL; Heather (Dave) Marriage, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; step-granddaughter, Adrienne (Jon Seary) King, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, NL; grandson, Kevin (Wendy) Roscoe, Cambridge Sta.; great grandchildren, Jordan, Kalyn, Lauren & Colin Anstey; Maiya Marriage; Kenda & Kaymen Roscoe; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and she was known and loved as Aunt Reta by her many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place 7-9 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900).
