69, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co., formerly of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at home in Barss Corner, where he resided with his daughter. Kenny was born on July 22, 1939, in Aylesford and was the second oldest child of the late Clarence " Stedman " and Dorothy Amelia (Murphy) McKay. He worked at various jobs starting with Scotian Gold, Aylesford, later at Berwick Bakery for over 30 years until it closed, Avon Foods, Berwick, and E.F.R. Disposal, Garland, until his retirement. Kenny was an veteran member of the Aylesford and District Fire Department, which he had joined at the age of 14. He was an avid dart and ball player, loved a good game of 45's and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kenny is survived by his children, Kevin Leroy Mckay, Oshawa, Ont.; Angela Marie (Boyd Jr.) Drew, Barss Corner; Brenda Lee (Phil Drover) McKay, Sunnyside, N.L.; grandchildren, Krystale Dawnn Drew, Bridgewater; Courtney-Alexsandra Lynn McKay, Sunnyside, N.L.; Danielle Lynn Drew, Bridgewater; Riley Blaine Medford Drew, Barss Corner; Mitchell Bruce Keddy, Wolfville; great-granddaughter, Brook McKay, Sunnyside, N.L.; siblings, Shirley (Andy) Carew, Andie, Alberta; Donna Schofield, Cambridge; Wayne (Velma) McKay, Factorydale; Edith Strum, Aylesford; Dale (Jeannie Jones) McKay, Auburn; Perry (Gail) McKay, Aylesford; Fred (Arlene) McKay, Auburn; Bonnie (Wayne) Spurr, Aylesford; Elizabeth (Sheldon) Lenihan, Greenwood; Joann (Barry) Murphy, Lower Sackville; Larry (Penny Gates) McKay, Aylesford; Cathy (Eddie Pelton) Keddy, Cambridge Sta.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Dianne "Sylvia" Robar; sister, Linda Ells. There will be no visitation. Funeral service for Kenny will take place 2 p.m., Monday, July 13, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Rev. Layton MacDonald officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Lunenburg Co.
